A veterinary dermatologist specialises in treatment and management of diseases of the skin and associated structures including the ears and claws. In addition they are trained in immunology (the science and medicine of the immune system) and histopathology (the study of the skin in health and disease at a cellular level) giving them a deeper understanding of skin diseases and their treatment.

VetDerm SA was established in 2001 by Dr Andrew Carter at the Adelaide Veterinary Specialist and Referral Centre. As South Australia's only referral veterinary dermatology service we aim to provide backup to veterinary practitioners in general practice diagnosing and managing skin, ear and claw diseases.
